osma specialises in residential construction

News

osma has now presented the residential lift “osma 1”. It was developed especially for the requirements of residential construction and forms part of the new strategic alignment of the Osnabrück company.

As one of the biggest German lift manufacturers, osma has always been strongly oriented towards residential construction, according to the company's press release.

"As a family company, we see it as a special responsibility to facilitate access through our products to liveable residential space for everyone – irrespective of age, health or social background," explained Jens-Albert Schenk, the fourth-generation managing partner. "osma 1 is the first representative of a new category of lifts consistently devoted to this goal."

The design of the osma 1 had been developed for more living comfort: "Rounded shapes and natural materials such as genuine wooden railings create a warm and inviting atmosphere, setting them apart from the appearance of conventional stainless steel lifts," according to osma. The interior finish of the car was vandalism-proof and easy to clean.

Barrier-free basic version

Even the basic version of the residential lift is 100 percent barrier-free in accordance with DIN EN 81-70. The height of osma 1 is in line with this standard and the car control panel and switches are also arranged to be easily accessible according to the standard. An acoustic signal can be set as key acknowledgement.

Wooden handrails with an especially large diameter take care of more stable support even for people with restricted arm or hand function. Various features, such as a non-distorting mirror for safe reversing, make the car easily accessible for passengers in wheelchairs. In addition, osma offers additional features, such as an entry gong or speech announcement.

New noise insulation technology reduced the lift’s noise to a minimum. There are three levels: level 1 has plastic-sheathed ropes, a spring-loaded rope suspension and a muffled drive. In addition, level 2 offers a double-muffled drive, which swallows a large part of the structure-borne sound emissions produced before they can be transmitted into the building. Level 3 offers noise-insulated guide rails in addition, which reduced the volume to a minimum.

Less packaging waste

According to the company, the osma 1 already avoided packaging waste during installation. All lift components are delivered in a reusable box. Following assembly, the installation team takes the box with it and uses it again during the next construction project. In addition, the new residential lift cut energy consumption.

Osma’s developers optimised the car’s weight to lower the use of material and make the lift lighter overall. Furthermore, the lift could also be installed in wooden shafts. At the end of its service life, the entire lift was recyclable.

The osma 1 only needed minimal shaft dimensions – "consequently, no valuable residential space is wasted," the company emphasised. Thanks to the low shaft head, construction planning was more flexible and likewise permitted more residential space along with the height limitation. Moreover, its low shaft pit reduced the effort for excavation, which greatly reduced the construction time.

osma provides all of the BIM data for planning.
