Elevcon: “Heads, ideas and innovations”

The next Elevcon Congress is planned for 17 to 19 June 2025 in Altis Grand Hotel in Lisbon (Portugal).

For the second time, Dr Marja-Liisa Siikonen, CEO of MLS Lift Consulting, will be in charge of the 24th International Congress for Vertical Transport Technologies. The Elevcon chair is promising the participants a "world-class programme with presentations of renowned international experts. "As chairperson of the congress, I am pleased to invite you to take part in the congress, which as ever promises to be a meeting of heads, ideas and innovations," Siikonen emphasised.

Elevcon is organised by the IAEE (International Association of Elevator Engineers). Since its establishment in 1986, the "International Congress on Vertical Transportation Technologies" has taken place every two years at various locations, most recently in 2023 in Prague. This was the first Elevcon presided over by Dr Marja-Liisa Siikonen, after the both former IAEE president and chairperson of the Elevcon Congress, Ami Lustig, as well as the secretary of the IAEE Executive Committee and Chairman of the Executive Board, Joseph Stier, had died.

Since the last congress, the talks are assessed in advance by a scientific committee of the IAEE. There will be 25 speakers in 2025. Their names, subjects and a brief summary of the planned talks can be found on the Elevcon website. The composition of the speakers is international. They come from China, Dubai, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.

The subjects are distributed as follows.
Day 1: Experts deal with lift architecture, traffic management, control systems and energy efficiency.
Day 2: The meetings concentrate on lift components, sustainability and safety. Important components like lift brakes, ropes and doors are to be thoroughly discussed.
Day 3: The participants discover how modern AI technologies, digital twins, cloud computing and the Internet of Things are changing digital transport. The presentations will be collected in a congress proceedings publication.

The congress will be accompanied by a small exhibition. The conference language will be English.
