High performance doors for public buildings

News

High quality lifts are particularly in demand in very busy public buildings. They often have to work flawlessly round-the-clock to convey their users to the desired floor fast and reliably.

To ensure this also works without any problems, such lifts should be made of high quality, sturdy components.

This is especially true of doors, which continue to be the main cause of lift malfunctions. Reliable operation, fast opening speeds and smooth running are essential for lifts, e. g. in shopping centres, hotels, office buildings and hospitals, etc.

The high-performance door Supra, available from the Munich-based company Meiller, is a product that includes the quality features of series doors (such as double-walled door leaves, etc.). But unlike these, the Supra is fitted with larger rollers with a diameter of 90 mm. As a result, the rollers do not rotate as often during opening and closing, which makes itself noticeable through smoother running. At the same time, this means less wear, especially since the rollers are made of a special, high-quality plastic, according to Meiller.

The kicking rollers have a diameter of 35 mm and are fitted with a flange that grips behind the profile of the running rail and is intended to provide high safety: the door leaves will not jump out of the guide rails, even in the event of a violent shock from outside.

The rollers and kicking rollers are positioned at the far edge of the door suspensions and positioned in relation to each other to ensure that any swinging of the door leaves is avoided during acceleration or braking. Close positioning of the kicker rollers to the guide rail hinders this undesirable effect additionally.

Fire-tested landing doors

The landing doors are available according to DIN 18091 or fire-tested according to EN 81-58, E 120. The door leaves can in addition be filled with rock wool to further enhance the smooth running of the doors and for even better noise insulation. However, this filling material has no effect on the approval of the fire test according to EN 81-58, E 120.

The car doors of the Supra series are delivered as standard with a Siemens AT40 drive and are suitable for lifts with speeds of about 4 m/sec. They are fitted with the Meiller TM1-VL skate system, which is based on the functional principle of the Meiller skate systems.

However, at 12 mm, a significantly enlarged passage clearance (compared to standard skates) ensures that the skate does not collide when travelling through the shaft with the hook bolts of the landing doors and damage the car door.
