Wim Koster is the new ELA President

News

Willem (Wim) Johannes Koster was elected as the new President of the European Lift Association (ELA) in mid-May (the LIFTjournal reported). A few facts about the 58-year-old Dutchman.

The 58-year-old Dutchman has been Director of Regulatory Engagement at the Kone headquarters in Finland since last year. The economics graduate started his career in the lift industry at Kone in 1999. He worked there as Director of Global Safety in Finland from 2015 to 2021. Prior to that, he worked as Managing Director of Kone Netherlands. Currently he serves as chairman of the Supervisory Board of Kone Germany.

Koster has been a member of the ELA Board for six years. He was also President of the European Elevator Association (EEA) from 2021 to 2024 and will remain a member of the EEA Management Committee following his election as ELA President. Wim Koster was also Chairman and Board Member of the Dutch industry association Nederlandse Vereniging voor Liften en Roltrappen (VLR).

Serve the interests of the industry

"My ambition to become president of the ELA stems from my belief in the power of associations. ELA has grown into a strong representative of the elevator industry's interests through evolving leadership", Wim Koster emphasised to the LIFTjournal.

"For me, one of the most important goals is to unite the different interests of large and small companies and the different countries. There is a lot of creativity and knowledge available within the ELA and the secretariat to serve the interests of the industry."
