Simplifa: new beginning after bankruptcy

News

Following the insolvency of the Berlin proptech company Simplifa at the beginning of 2024, the research and development department was closed and the operational business sold to a consortium after a bidding process.

This segment was incorporated in a limited liability company and now trades under the name Elevoniq.

The old managing director is also the new managing director: Ludwig von Busse is now in charge of Elevoniq while the former Simplifa managing director Hubertus von Schierstaedt is one of the twelve partners of the new limited liability company. Seven of these had previous interests in Simplifa. One new addition among others is the company facilioo, which operates a digital platform for building administration.

Expand the new business model and make it profitable

The nationally-active lift manufacturer Braun Aufzüge from the vicinity of Kassel is another new partner. "They are neutral and proven experts in the design, production, installation and service of lifts of all kinds. The participating interests are not concerned with acquiring new customers," Ludwig von Busse revealed.

Braun Aufzüge wanted to make a contribution to ensuring that the technology could not only be used by operators but also by other lift companies or technical planners, for example.

"We’re not just looking for profits but also want to use Elevoniq’s technology for the replacement, modernisation and service of our lifts," explained Tobias Braun, managing partner of Braun Aufzüge. "In addition, we view the new business model as viable and intend to further expand it and make it profitable."

"High capital stock"

At any rate, managing director Busse is optimistic about the future. "We are now completely solvent and have a high capital stock," he pointed out to the LIFTjournal. Out of the 80 former employees who had worked for Simplifa at its peak, a total of 14 had been taken on.

"We’re no longer a start-up but a normal SME that has to generate profits and dividends," emphasised von Busse. Like Simplifa before it, Elevoniq aims to offer everything related to conveyance technology consulting, from hazard evaluation, modernisation and reconstruction planning for lifts to digital lift management for operators and lift companies.
