RST Elektronik with new controller generation

News

The demands on lift controllers have greatly increased in recent years. To do justice to these demands, RST Elektronik has optimised its previous IMC 2 controller generation.

To an ever greater extent, they assume safety-relevant tasks in the field of detection, are integrated in the network of their environment and fulfil various tasks in the area of mobility.

The new IMC2 Pro series can be used both in new lift construction as well as in modernisation. "Thanks to a clear plain text system, the controller main board provides an intuitive interface, which greatly simplifies the maintenance and start-up of lifts," explained the controller manufacturer. The special modes, e.g. for emergency power, roof parapets, zones and lock controls, were optimised.

Simplified backup of the control data

The integrated real time data logger records all processes, permits detailed lift analysis and provides the information prepared on a USB stick or if necessary in the cloud. These data can save time during troubleshooting on site.

They support needs-oriented maintenance and can be queried on the road with a tablet or smartphone. Access to the lift is complemented by the PC application "LiftControl", which apart from its parameterisation and analytical functions, assumes the lift management in a central database.

The IMC 2 Pro ensures simplified backup of the control data in the controller thanks to the close communication with the IMD frequency converter of RST. Consequently, if the frequency converter is replaced, the new device can once again be returned to operation without further assistance with the backed up parameters via the push of a button on the controller.

Automatic tuning

A permanent parameter transfer occurs between frequency converter and controller via the integrated CAN drive interface. As a result, automatic tuning of these components is facilitated upon start-up. The controller parameters already adjust themselves to the converter automatically during the learning trip. This renders additional settings of the braking paths and control times superfluous.

The deceleration paths of all intermediate speeds, the shut-off points for stopping, readjustment and inspection pre-limit switch as well as the monitoring times for the brake, main contactor and car movement are all adapted. This adaptation occurs via an automatic calibration trip for converters not connected via a CAN drive.

Simplified encoder adjustment

Moreover, the travel curve data of the converter are transferred in real time to the controller and saved there. Remote access to these curves is also possible via the RST monitoring system. In addition, the frequency converter is suitable for actuating modern gearless drives.

With the greatly simplified encoder adjustment, which also determines the encoder offset and rotational direction of the ropes on the sheaven, improved and faster start-up is possible. An evacuation mode, which is also suitable for all synchronous and asynchronous motors, facilitates automatic and manual evacuation via a USP with low power consumption, including in the case of load compensation between car and counterweight.

Mobile access / device management

A WLAN module integrated in the IMC 2 Pro controller, and the SmartControl app (Android/iOS) especially developed for it, permit mobile access to all parameters and settings of the controller via smartphone. Consequently, the installation, start-up, maintenance and detailed diagnosis are greatly simplified, emphasised RST Elektronik.

Moreover, the module offers the future option of wireless device networking and technology for integration in the existing building management.
