According to the company, Orona improved its market position in 2020 despite the pandemic and achieved turnover of 799 million euros. The cooperative revealed this at its virtual annual general meeting.
The company, based in Hernani (Spain), now has subsidiaries in twelve European countries; Malta and Portugal are the most recent additions. These newly established branches are part of the Orona 2030 plan. The company intends to increase its turnover to 1,200 million euros and the number of its employees to over 7,800 by then.
Last year, the company’s turnover was 799 million euros and as a result maintained the result of the previous year – despite the economic consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. Orona achieved an EBITDA of 138 million euros and invested 16.3 million euros last year. Despite the Corona crisis, the number of employees rose to 5,471 in total at the end of the year.
As part of its digital transformation strategy, Orona presented an agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS). As a result, the cooperative will have access to cloud computing services and intends thereby to "position itself at vanguard of digitalisation through relevant innovations in the service of people."
