New high performance door for fast lifts
The Munich component manufacturer Meiller Aufzugtüren has developed the new high performance door "Sprint 4.0 I" especially for fast lifts.
Due to the ongoing urbanisation underway worldwide, not only office towers, but also residential blocks are getting higher all the time, because there is simply no room for them to expand horizontally.
As a result, at peak times (mornings and evenings), as many people as possible have to be distributed in the buildings as quickly as possible. This means increased use of lifts with higher speeds than previously, up to 5 m/s.
However, it is not just the high speed of lifts that is responsible for maximum conveyance capacity, but above all the speed of the door-opening and -closing phases.
Sprint 4.0 i as new development
Meiller developed the new high performance door "Sprint 4.0 i" for this application. This completely new door series was presented at the interlift 2019 in Augsburg and comprises centrally-opening, two-leaf (C2), telescopic two-leaf (T2) and centrally-opening four-leaf (C4) versions.
First 90 mm diameter rollers
The outstanding innovation of this door is the first-ever use of large, 90 mm diameter rollers. These are high performance rollers, turned from cast polyamide semi-finished material into which deep-groove ball bearings are pressed on both sides.
The rollers complete only approx. one revolution per door cycle given a door width of 1100 mm. guaranteeing extremely smooth running door movements. The service life of these rollers is also extended by their lower loading.
Expanded TM1-DV "L" skate system
The double skate system TM-1 DV (in centrally-opening doors) was supplemented with the TM1-DV L version especially for these doors. The "L" stands for "air" ("Luft"). The transit air between the skate arms and hook bolt rollers has been doubled.
As a result, car movements while travelling through the shaft can no longer cause any disruptions by coming into contact with the hook bolt rollers.
Labyrinth seal on the door leaf
The door leaves of all door types have labyrinth seals on the side for attaching to the frames and at the top to attach to the hangers. In addition, 8 mm labyrinth seals are integrated in the cladding panels in all centrally-opening doors on the closing edge.
These labyrinth seals are on the one hand required according to EN 81-58, but on the other also responsible for minimising the draft caused by passing cars and reducing travel noise.
Closed gap between door leaf and sill
A tread plate is arranged in the middle between the two guide rails on the outer edge of the door leaves to cut the draft at the lower section of the door leaf. This prevents whistling noises when a car travels past with closed doors.
The design of the new Sprint 4.0 i doors complies with EN 81-20/50 and is fire-certified according to EN 81-58 E120; in addition, the doors have been subjected to a blower door test.
The Sprint 4.0 I door series is equipped with the now familiar MiDrive door drive system. The special version for the Sprint 4.0 i system has been given a travel profile especially adapted to this high performance door above the QR code attached to each car door.
The opening speed is in the range of 1.0 m/sec, resulting in an opening time of approx. 1.2 sec at a C2 door width of 1100 mm. The Sprint 4.0 i door system is designed for maximum speed combined with smooth running.
