New components for automation technology

The Schmersal Group has now presented a new rope pull switch. It can be used as a transducer to start machines, open electrically driven doors and gates or as a light switch in lift shafts.

According to Schmersal, the main advantages of the PS216 switch are its small size and versatility. These are facilitated by the high protection classes according to EN 60529 and suitability for a wide temperature range.

The rope pull switch is protected against dust and strong jets of water by protection class IP66 and also against temporary submersion in water thanks to IP67. The switch can be used ambient temperatures of -30 °C to +80 °C.

Ballpoint principle

Another practical advantage was that the PS216 operated according to the ballpoint principle, the company declared. Thanks to the onward switching function, the switch remains switched on after first actuation and subsequent release. Only upon the second actuation and subsequent release is the locking of the switching elements overridden and the switch turned off.

The rope pull switch is available in two designs: the Q200 version has a tensile force of 45 N and is suitable for rope lengths of up to 50 m. In the Q210 version the tensile force is 70 N and the potential rope lengths up to 100 m. Tugging on the rope pull actuates the switching function of the rope pull switch.

Other properties of the PS216 include cable entry per M20 or M12 plug and six different normally-closed /open contact versions.
