Mourning Dr Gina Barney

Dr Gina Barney passed away on the 6th of July 2023. There was a celebration of her life on the 18th of July with tributes from family, friends, and industry colleagues.

Dr Barney was a remarkable engineer, researcher, and leader in the lift industry. She leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of contributions to the lift industry.

Throughout her remarkable career, Dr Barney authored 23 books and countless papers, solidifying her position as a leading expert in the field. She held key positions in industry organisations, including BSI's lift committee MHE/4 and the CIBSE Lifts Group, and was the Principal of Gina Barney Associates.

Dr Barney's exceptional commitment and hard work were unmatched, and her absence will be strongly felt.

Indelible legacy in the lift industry

Gina’s immense knowledge, passion, and dedication have left an indelible legacy in the lift industry. Her pioneering spirit and willingness to challenge conventions will continue to inspire future generations of engineers, and her legacy will endure as a testament to her brilliance and passion.

May she rest in peace, knowing that her extraordinary accomplishments will continue to shape the world of engineering for generations to come.
