Schindler has announced the debut of its breakthrough Robotics Installation System for Elevators (R.I.S.E), with which it hopes to pave the way for greater automation and digitalization in the lift industry.
With its autonomous and self-climbing robot, this prototype solution allows the safe and high-quality installation of elevators, and is ideally suited for use in high-rise buildings. The technology has already been used for the installation of several lifts in commercial complexes and tall residential buildings in Europe.
"This innovative robotics system" would provide a new level of worker safety and thus help to improve quality, according to Karl-Heinz Bauer, Chief Technology Officer, Schindler Group.
R.I.S.E was developed to eliminate the repetitive, physically demanding tasks, such as drilling multiple holes in concrete walls and setting anchor bolts for greater precision when installing guide rails.
