Information note about ISO 8100-1 and ISO 8100-2
A new information note was now prepared by a Task Group "ELA/CEA" composed of lift experts from the European Lift Association (ELA) and lifts experts from China Elevators Association (CEA).
The aim of the Task Group "ELA/CEA" is to provide "information for general understanding and to help with correct application" of the standards in line with good engineering practices. The intention of the common work carried out by the lift experts from ELA and from CEA is not to “interpret” or “propose” new requirements, new standards or revision of those standards.
It shall only provide background and rationale of the requirements of the standards and some guidance. Furthermore, it shall help, in line with good engineering practices, to understand the requirement of the standards:
– ISO 8100-1:2019, Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts – Lifts for the transport of persons and goods – Part 1: Passenger and goods passenger lifts, and
– ISO 8100-2:2019, Safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts – Examinations and tests – Part 2: Design rules, calculations, examinations and tests of lift components This document looks at the rationale and background of selected clauses of ISO 8100-1/2, identified by the Task Group to be the most important at this time and for this first edition.
