Good news – especially for internationally active component manufacturers: The British government intends to extend the recognition of CE marking for the placing of goods on the British market indefinitely. This also applies to elevators.
With Brexit, the requirements for placing elevator systems and components on the British market had changed. The plan was that all products which previously only required CE marking would have to have additional UKCA certification when brought into the British economic area.
The original plan was to recognize the CE marking only until the end of 2022. This deadline was then extended to December 31, 2024, now indefinitely.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) has now announced this indefinite extension. It is intended to reduce the cost and time required for companies to place products on the market and benefit consumers, according to the press release. "Following extensive discussions with industry, a key business demand has been met to reduce burdens and boost growth in the UK economy."
