At interlift 2023, the Serapid Group presented its new passenger lift concept based on Rigid Chain Technology.
The new development is part of a new product line of lifts that has been specially designed for the public sector to enable people with reduced mobility to access all areas (Access for all / AFA-concept).
At the heart of this new development is the Dual Lift Drive System (DLDS), a lift kit consisting of two Vertical LinearBeam Drives (VLB) arranged side by side in twin-formation. This drive type was specially developed for lifting and lowering vertically guided loads and was as an actuator already certified in 2021 by Liftinstituut B.V.
The Dual Lift Drive System (DLDS) was recently tested by Liftinstituut on a specially constructed test rig at Serapid's French headquarters and succesfully certified.
And the first use of the lift has already been decided: c2c (Trenitalia c2c Ltd), a UK rail infrastructure operator will soon deploy the Serapid system at Grays Station near London, further expanding Network Rail’s Access-For-All program with two new evacuation lifts with this style.
