First “notified body” for Machine Directive
TÜV Süd has been recognised and listed as the worldwide first notified body on the European NANDO website for the new Machine Regulation.

Ali Aktaş passed away on 11 September in Izmir. The founder of the Turkish lift, escalator and moving walkway manufacturer Löher was 84 years old. He was active in the company until 2022, most recently as Honorary President.
According to the company, Ali Aktaş was the first local escalator manufacturer of Turkiye. He founded Löher in Izmir in 1967 and dedicated himself to the industry for more than half a century. During this time, the graduate of an industrial vocational high school did pioneering work and led the industry.
"He touched thousands of people’s lives professionally and humanely, directly and indirectly. He was the real Gentleman, happy to spread knowledge rather than hide it. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ali Aktaş, the visionary founder of the Löher brand. His remarkable track record and outstanding presence earned him the title of a true pioneer and an esteemed figure in the industry. We share in the sadness of his loss and extend our sincere condolences to his family," he company stated in an obituary.
