No E2 Forum 2024

There will be no E2 Forum in Frankfurt a.M. this year, according to a statement provided to LIFTjournal by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

The latter is the organiser of the E2 Forum in cooperation with VDMA Trade Association Lifts and Escalators. The E2 Forum has taken place twice – in autumn 2018 and in autumn 2022.

LIFTjournal asked Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH for the reasons behind the decision.

Why will there be no E2 Forum in Frankfurt this year – has the format been dropped completely/changed or just postponed?
Trade fairs are a mirror of business and industries. As a trade fair company, we are engaged in constant exchanges and dialogue with our partners, take up ideas and impulses and provide ideas for new formats. This was also the origin of the E2 Forum in autumn 2018. The innovation forum with trade conference was launched as a platform for cross-sector expert dialogue between industry, building planning and the real estate business dealing with vertical-horizontal conveyance in buildings and districts of the future.

Currently, the lift and escalator sector at the Frankfurt location does not see any need for the E2 Forum. As soon as this changes, we will be pleased to partner with the industry.

What were the reasons for this decision?
There were various reasons. Among other things, the situation in the sector is currently difficult with turnover declines in the primary market of up to 30 percent. Messe Frankfurt, as an international organiser of trade fairs, congresses and events, will continue to engage in regular exchanges with the VDMA Association and review the situation at the appropriate time.

Does this also apply to the E2 formats in Mumbai, Milan and China?
Our international formats for the sector of lift and escalator technology in Mumbai and Milan are currently subject to similar developments. In India in particular, the worldwide market is very dynamic at the moment and we are observing and analysing it regularly. The E2 formats in China will take place as usual. In addition, we provide all those with specialist interests with a suitable information platform and contact point for networking with the content hub "Building.Technology.Solutions".
