Elfin has launched a new solution for lift maintenance. The monitoring gateway “eleon S1” provides important cross-manufacturer operating data and is intended in this way to support targeted optimisation of maintenance processes.
The need for a universal solution is growing for lift companies with heterogeneous maintenance portfolios, one which permits reliable monitoring across the entire portfolio, explained Elfin, a provider of smart solutions for lifts based in Cologne. This was precisely what the eleon S1 monitoring gateway had been developed for. "It provides continuous data about operating conditions, door status, error messages and trips and in this way creates the basis for efficient maintenance decisions."
The requirements for a monitoring solution are clearly delineated: it should be precise and easy to determine whether a lift is operational and when the next maintenance will be needed. Here what takes priority is less the mass of data provided by modern controls but rather the targeted provision of information.
According to Elfin, eleon S1 should provide maintenance companies with a solution based on precisely this approach. The gateway connects directly with the lift control and provides structured information on operating conditions, such as error messages and safety circuits. These data can be provided as raw data or as specific key figures via an interface in the operational systems, which facilitate integration in the respective requirements of the maintenance processes.
The eleon S1 is designed to ensure that the installation can take place as part of the normal maintenance routine. Thanks to the integrated local configuration website, installation on site could be concluded within about 15 minutes, explained the manufacturer. By using an internal NB-IoT modem and the integrated e-SIM chip, there was no elaborate laying of cables, which accelerated the process additionally.
Moreover, this installation technology made prior analysis of the maintenance portfolio superfluous, since the hardware supported various controls and is configured on site. Consequently, the eleon S1 can be integrated in the normal course of the maintenance trips and offers companies the option of testing the system initially on selected lifts.
The gateway supports standard controls of major manufacturers such as Otis, Schindler, Kone and TK Elevator. This comprehensive compatibility permitted making a fast start in remove monitoring, emphasised the manufacturer. For companies that were already using other systems for monitoring, the eleon S1 could be integrated in the existing infrastructure without major adjustments.
According to Elfin, attention was paid to scalability and flexible handling during its development: if eleon S1 was no longer needed on a lift, perhaps because the maintenance agreement was expiring, it could simply be installed on another control.
