New machines to clean escalators

Eureka has developed a new machine for cleaning escalators. It is intended to be able to clean all escalator models, irrespective of length, breadth or brand, declared Eureka S.p.A., an Italian manufacturer of professional cleaning machines.

The machine was designed because conventional escalator cleaners removed dirt only from the treads, according to Renato Scremin, head of Eureka’s technical department and co-founder of the company. This left an impression of poor cleaning.

The risers – the parts that stand out most when you approach the bottom of an escalator – simply cannot be cleaned with conventional machines, according to Eureka’s press release. Consequently, the new cleaning machine ERC45 is deployed on the horizontal surfaces of an escalator.

Powerful vacuum system

In operation, it combines the effect of a high-precision detergent spray system with the action of a pair of high-speed brushes. Another fundamental feature is a powerful vacuum system, designed specifically for this machine to recover dirt and cleaning solution, the manufacturer emphasised.

The ERC45 has a steel frame to guarantee a long working life. "It is nevertheless easy to transport thanks to the trolley (also in steel) that comes with it and thanks to an innovative system that allows it to move effortlessly from one step to the next," according to Eureka."Thanks to this machine, moving staircases can finally be cleaned completely, lastingly and very easily by just one operator."
