The Swedish manufacturer Alimak has launched the rack and pinion elevator SE 240L. It is designed for installation on silos, storage vessels, and cranes.
The new lift is engineered for tough operational and environmental working conditions, making it reliable, durable and robust, according to the Alimak press release. The SE 240L lift maximized operational efficiency, reduced plant maintenance costs, and increased health and safety performance, by reducing climbing and manual lifting, whilst providing access during incidents and accidents.
According to Alimak, the SE 240L lift did not need a machine room or a supporting lift shaft. This reduced the building requirements and ongoing structural maintenance. This feature also made it easy to retrofit to existing structures, thanks to the rack and pinion drive technology.
The SE 240L had a payload capacity of 240 kg (two passengers), a traveling speed of 0.4 m/s, a lifting height of up to 45 m, and could be provided with doors on one or two sides of the car. According to the Swedish manufacturer, the safety features of the SE 240L elevator included a safety device, mechanical and electrical door interlocking, centrifugal emergency lowering system and overload protection.
The SE 240L product was included in the Building Information Modelling (BIM) gallery, with object files. This allowed customers to compare and select the most suitable lift option for their needs and enabled them to incorporate the lift model in their overall facility design package.
