AMEV recommendation “Lifts 2017”

The new AMEV recommendation “Lift 2017” provides everyone involved in the planning, erection and use of lifts, especially in public buildings, with comprehensive and practical assistance with economic solutions.

It is not a substitute for the specialist planning required for each individual case. It takes the relevant statutory regulations, guidelines and codes for lifts as of August 2017 into account.

Special weight is attached here to the amendments in the Lift Directive 2014/33/EU introduced as replacement for Lift Directive 95/16/EC, DIN EN 81 Part 20 and Part 50 as replacement for DIN EN 81 Part 1 and Part 2 and the Operational Safety Ordinance 2015 as replacement for the Operational Safety Ordinance 2003.

Pollutants related to lifts and requirements for travel comfort of lifts, including measurement procedures for determining travel comfort are dealt with for the first time in this information; an example of a measurement result is included in the appendix. Use of lifts after the first start-up, including among other things the emergency plan, hazard evaluation and testing before start-up are now also addressed.

Corresponding samples of the hazard analysis to be carried out, hazard evaluations and the log of the regular visual inspection are included in the appendix as working aids. The documents needed and technical information for the use of lifts can be collected and archived with the attached sample checklist.

“Lift 2017” replaces the previous version “Lift 2014.” The recommendation was introduced by edict of 1 August 2017 for federal civil engineering. It is available on the AMEV (Working Group of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers of State and Local Governments) homepage for free download.
