2N installed the lift emergency system in the Varso Tower in Warsaw – Europe’s tallest skyscraper.
The Varso Tower is Warsaw’s new architectural icon. At a height of 310 metres, the 53-floor tower is also the European Union’s tallest structure, surpassing even the skyscrapers of Frankfurt, Milan and Paris.
Every visit to the top of Varso Tower will start with a ride in a special lift. Schindler’s panoramic cabins will shoot up at a speed of 8 metres per second, offering a spectacular view of Warsaw.
Visitors will then have access to a partially roofed terrace at 205 metres and an open one at 230 metres above street level, higher than any other deck in Poland and amongst the highest anywhere in Europe. A panoramic restaurant will also stretch across floors 46-48.
The Varso Tower is slated to be completed by the end of this year, with the opening of the observation decks planned for the first half of 2023.
As expected in such a tall building, fire safety was a high priority from the outset, and shaped decision-making over the appropriate lifts: First, there were installed two evacuation lifts in case of fire, alongside the 27 other lifts in the Tower. Second, 2N provided the lift emergency system.
The solution incorporates a Fireman Unit. Communication takes place in accordance with the standard and overrides all other emergency calls, as required by the standard. Furthermore, the volume levels can be variably adjusted according to the standard. If a firefighter is in the machine room, he or she can join in the communication between the lift car and the fire brigade call station if necessary.
"The fireman communication unit is hugely important for a building as tall as the Varso Tower", said Pavel Kotek, Lift Sales Director at 2N. "In general, the lift emergency system is a flexible, modular solution which we highlighted this project in a recent guide for lift manufacturers, service and maintenance providers because it’s such a good example of an effective solution for demanding high-rise, multi-shaft installations."
The solution includes a so-called fire brigade call station. "In general, the lift emergency call system is a flexible, modular solution," says Pavel Kotek, Lift Sales Director at 2N. "This will allow further communication interfaces and technologies to be added in the future without having to replace the whole system."
