First “notified body” for Machine Directive
TÜV Süd has been recognised and listed as the worldwide first notified body on the European NANDO website for the new Machine Regulation.

There are constant complaints about the lack of new recruits in the lift sector. Ziehl-Abegg adopted an unusual course a while ago.
For the third time, the industrial company and lift motor manufacturer based in Kunzelsau (Germany), took part in the German television programme "Sendung mit der Maus" ("Programme with the mouse") on its ‘door-opener’ day.
Those who ought to have technical apprenticeships on their mind when selecting a profession should be exposed to technology at an early stage. One possibility is the mouse door-opener day of the "Sendung mit der Maus". Ziehl-Abegg was there for the third time – photos and films tell their own story.
To the video "Wie funktioniert ein Elektromotor" ("How does an electric motor work") On the "mouse door opener day", the "Sendung mit der Maus" opens doors for children that would otherwise be closed. At Ziehl-Abegg, the children developed motors, cast 700° C aluminium, soldered and competed to see who could shout the loudest.
"We want to arouse children’s enthusiasm for technical matters," explained Peter Fenkl, the Chairman of the Management Board of Ziehl-Abegg. The door-opener day of the "Sendung mit der Maus" takes place every year on 3 October. Here, institutions and companies open their doors to children. "Ziehl-Abegg naturally contributes technical subjects as a specialist for quiet and efficient fans and electric motors," said the Chairman of the Management Board.

The company realises the intentions of the "Sendung mit der Maus" in this regard, "A pure open door day is not what the ‘Maus" wants – we help children to understand technology and can engage in assembly and soldering on their own," emphasised Fenkl.
In the training centre in Künzelsau, the nine to twelve year olds developed an active loudspeaker for mobile phones or an electric motor. The trainers and apprentices of Ziehl-Abegg act as instructors and assistants.
It is also a lot of fun, of course - above all when the oversized stars from the "Sendung mit der Maus" are on hand.
