Orona remains on course for growth

The members of the Spanish cooperative Mondragón, of which Orona is part, can celebrate an increase in sales, profits and the number of maintenance orders and employees.

The Spanish lift builder Orona achieved sales of 1,000 billion euros in 2023. As a result, despite a "complex global background with various conflicts and socioeconomic uncertainties", the figures of the previous year were surpassed by 12.6 percent, as announced by the company from Gipuzkoa at its annual general meeting at the end of April.

EBITDA was 143 million euros, exceeding the preceding years' results. Investments amounted to 64.1 million euros in total. According to Orona, these were above all devoted to the fields of innovation and company development. The number of employees also increased last year.

More than 300,000 lift maintenance orders

This reached 6,111 and as a result grew for the fourth time in a row. The capacity of the factory was fully exploited in the 2023 financial year with 20,000 lifts produced. Every tenth new lift in Europe now came from Orona, according to the company.

In addition, it was revealed in the company headquarters Orona Ideo at the annual general meeting that the barrier of 300,000 lift maintenance orders had been broken last year. About 60 percent of sales come from the service sector. This also had something to do with the acquisition of AK Aufzüge from Rheinstetten with which Orona for the first time expanded its presence to southern Germany.

Orona will have further cause to celebrate in 2024. The cooperative will celebrate its sixtieth anniversary since the foundation of Orona S. Coop as part of an institutional commemorative event.
