GEE: Lift sector as part of a complex system

News

The first edition of GEE (Global Elevator Exhibition) will take place from 15 to 17 November 2023 at Fiera Milano (Rho).

The goal is to help to bring urban mobility and accessibility toward a more sustainable future where industrial progress fits seamlessly into the development of cities, says the organizer Fiera Milano.

GEE is for architects, designers, construction companies, real estate and maintenance professionals, facility managers, and condominium managers, as well as distributors and installers of these technologies.

GEE will be held concurrently with MADE expo, an Italian event for the construction industry; Sicurezza, the biennial international event in the security & fire sector; and Smart Building Expo, the home and building automation and technology integration event. "Thus, expanding a synergy that has already proven successful in 2021 and offering a further opportunity to integrate technologically advanced systems for the connected building and city", stresses the organiser.

World progress through an event

"The sector is calling for an international event that can accompany companies in the development of the 'smart city' concept that has been taking shape in recent years," says Luca Palermo, CEO and General Manager of Fiera Milano.

"Inaugurating this event in Milan is of significant importance since Milan is a cosmopolitan city and a connecting hub. Thus, it is the perfect place to bring to the world progress through an event that wants to become a reference one for Italy and Europe. With GEE, we want to offer an international scope event that looks at this sector as part of a complex system. That is why GEE will be joined by other events in an expanded supply chain approach that focuses on the smart city and the new technological models it brings."

Rich programme of conferences

According to Fiera Milano, numerous international companies have confirmed their participation in the first edition of GEE, Global Elevator Exhibition. Among them are Axel, Cast, CMC Parklift, Donati, Fermator, Genemek, Gervall, Giovenzana International B.V., GMV, Hevos, Hydronic Lift, Indastria, Kleemann, Lift Trade Elevator, Lifteck / Orona, Liftex, Lifting Italia, Mastech, Metalift, Millepiani Elevators, Monteferro, Moris, MP, N2S, Omarlift, PFB, Prisma, Sicor, Sodimas, TEKNO SMS, Telcal, TK Elevator, Vicini.

Furthermore, an incoming buyer programme is planned that shall enable national and international exhibitors to activate business relations and enhance export opportunities in focus countries.

Why a new fair?

LIFTjournal asked the organizer Fiera Milano: Why a new fair? Why a second Italian fair? Why so soon after the interlift? What is different from other fairs, what is new? Read the answer from the organizer Fiera Milano:

"The birth of GEE is no coincidence. The request came precisely from companies in the sector: a new dedicated event for a complex and diverse industry such as that of lifts, escalators, moving walkways and components.

GEE did nothing more than gather the impulses coming from a sector that for several years has been feeling the lack of a modern, competitive, international space in Italy, which would be a representative pole, but also a concrete, identifying place acting as a space for networking, comparison, training and updating on the novelties and topics that are relevant to this sector.

Smart Building and Smart City

Consequently, even the chosen date has its own value, as it allows GEE to stand alongside other related B2B events, which are already established and consolidated at the international level, in order to provide operators with a rich schedule on building and plant engineering. These events are Sicurezza, Smart Bulding Expo and ME-MADE Expo (Milan Architecture Design Building). This contemporaneity is intended to broaden the horizons of the horizontal and vertical mobility sector, so as to foster a wider and more contemporary concept of Smart Building and Smart City: themes that the lift world can no longer disregard.

Moreover, also the European Commission is moving in this direction by supporting – through the NRRP – the redevelopment of buildings and cities towards the virtuosity of sustainability, energy recovery and digitalization.

Milan: "5G European capital"

Milan wants to be a centre of excellence for these upcoming challenges, and today it represents a symbol of progress and innovation both in Italy and Europe. With its smart buildings and the use of digital technologies, the city managed to rapidly optimize its infrastructures and services, thus becoming the first smart-city in Italy and today’s '5G European capital', as it was the first to start testing fifth-generation broadband.

The fact that the event will be organized in the city's most modern district, Rho Fiera Milano, is therefore a further statement of GEE's intent. GEE aims to be a pivotal reference for the sector by presenting and promoting its modernization, innovation, quality, safety and high technical standards, as well as by providing design solutions to meet every need and helping the implementation of a sustainable building development.

It’s always complex to find a place within the international exhibition schedule, but we are confident that the choice of the city of Milan, which is also an ideal location in terms of logistics, hospitality and infrastructure, and above all the dates chosen, will be far from penalizing. Everything has been designed to give value to all the souls of the supply chain, with a desire to be different from other proposals, both in terms of numbers and quality of the offer, and in terms of internationality of exhibitors and buyers."
