Automatic disinfection with UV-C light

News

The freshly launched UV panel of Uventions is intended to offer the option of automatically disinfecting lifts through the use of UV-C light.

Many different people meet directly and indirectly in lifts. Due to their small size and heavy use, lifts are a collecting basin for pathogens – whether on surfaces, such as handrails and lift buttons, or in the air, according to Uventions, “In the car, there is only a limited exchange of air and the surfaces are cleaned too seldom for the pathogens to be effectively removed. “

The immediately available UV panel from Uventions is to provide an uncomplicated solution here with the assistance of UV-C disinfection. Viruses and bacteria are to be rendered harmless within a few minutes by it, both in the air as well as on surfaces.

Mounted on the car roof, the UV panel always launches the disinfection process when no one – even an animal – is in the lift. It is fitted with optical sensors for this purpose, which scan the room three-dimensionally. Consequently, passengers are not exposed to UV radiation at any time, even if they are motionless or are lying. “The design is extremely inconspicuous,” emphasised the manufacturer.

Proof of effectiveness

‘Dr. Brill + Partner GmbH Institut für Hygiene und Mikrobiologie’ recently demonstrated the effectiveness of the UV panel. For this purpose, viruses, bacteria and fungi were placed on surfaces under realistic conditions and the disinfection process with the UV panel then launched.

The UV panel can be installed in pre-existing lifts on the car roof. It operates completely automatically and independently of other lift components. Once a disinfection process has been completed, the system stops and as a result does not waste any unnecessary energy. The components did not need any maintenance, explained Uventions, “As a result, procurement of the UV panel is far more affordable and simultaneously more effective than manual disinfection of the cars by cleaning staff.”

Another point that lift operators and manufacturers should consider in Uventions’ view was the increased concern for hygiene in our society, “The demand for insect protection solutions has greatly increased. Whether in the office, hotels or hospitals, disinfection of air and surfaces must be considered for an effective and sustainable hygiene concept.”
